BALAY DA BLAS PENSIONNE HOUSE, LAOAG ILOCOS NORTE

Balay Da Blas was our home for 2 nights in Ilocos Norte. We decided to stay here because of the good reviews on tripadvisor and travel blogs I've read. Actually, when I saw their rooms online (the Ilocano Ambience rooms), I hesitated because I'm not used to the structure and the furnitures, old style kasi. Parang anytime may makikita kang kakaiba pag nag-stay ka dun hehe. Matatakutin pa naman ako.

Buti na lang meron na silang new wing(modern contemporary) and dun kami nagbook. E-mailed them regarding the rates and availability and after 1 day, nagreply kaagad sila and confirmed my reservation. We got 2 rooms for 3pax which was P1,750 per night, including toiletries, towels, breakfast. Transfers was not included but they recommended the government shuttle bus (IMEE bus) for the transfers as it is free. They required 50% reservation fee and provided their acct# with BPI.  wala akong naging problema with them, very professional yun nakausap ko through e-mail.

Upon arrival, staffs will assist you with your bags and check in procedures. We got rooms 10 (2nd flr) and room 14 (3rd flr w/ veranda). I paid for the remaining balance kaagad upon check in since ayaw ko na maraming hawak na cash, baka mawala ko pa.

Some things to remember:
- their pillows were a bit thin pero puwede naman mag-request ng additional
- hot water was free, just ask the staff to bring some to your room
- they'll ask for your preferred breakfast option the night before, take your breakfast at around 7AM. Kapag lampas kasi dun usually ang dami na tao sa breakfast area nila, hintayan na ng table
- their parking area is limited
- delivery from SARAMSAM resto is available, just advise the front desk of your order

Anyway here are the rooms:
ROOM 10

- 2 double beds, split type A/C, cable LCD tv (19 inch - ish), towels, toiletries
- no tables for your gadgets, but big bathroom
- clean and well maintained, 2nd flr so ok sa mga matatanda

ROOM 14

- 2 double beds, split type A/C, cable LCD tv (19 inch - ish), towels, toiletries
- opens up to a veranda, ok tumambay dito pag gabi. In fact, since wala table yun sa room 10, dito sila kumain 1 night.
- with a closet, dresser and table
- may sabitan ng towels (check the first pic below, tabi ng CR door)
- CR is smaller than room 10 pero mas updated yun look niya
- clean and well maintained, 3rd flr so di advisable sa senior citizens. they don't have a lift so baka mahirapan yun maraming dalang bagahe. gaps of their stairs are also quite high, ako mismo na bata-bata eh medyo nahirapan na, what more yun mga matatanda

sliding door on room 14 opens to the veranda
room on the left is room 14, straight on is the veranda

sliding door on the left is room 14
stairs to the 3rd flr

FAMILY ROOM (3rd flr)

on our 1st day there, nagkataon bukas yun family room nila so nakiusyoso na rin ako. Nagsabi ako kay ate na naglilinis if puwede picture-an yun room for my blog and pumayag naman siya. The room is spacious, kaya ng 7 pax or more sa loob.

- 3 double beds, 1 daybed, electric fan, A/C, private CR
- own sink and table, cabinet
taken from the veranda, yun room sa dulo yun ang FAMILY ROOM

all in all, Balay Da Blas was the perfect place for our ilocos vacation. Affordable rates pero di tinipid yun service. If babalik kami ng ilocos, dito ulit kami mag-stay.
